Our Silent Servers Include
- ECC Memory ECC memory is a type of RAM that can detect and correct single-bit errors in data. ECC memory is often used in servers and other critical systems where data integrity is important.
- Server Class motherboard Designed to be more reliable than consumer grade motherboards, server motherboards use higher quality components and are built to withstand more demanding workloads.
- Server Class CPU Server-class CPUs are designed to be more reliable than consumer-grade CPUs. High end server CPUs are built with higher-quality components and are tested more rigorously. They have more cores and threads, which allows them to handle more demanding workloads and often come with features that are not found on consumer-grade CPUs.
- Enterprise SSDs Designed for high-performance, high-reliability, and high-endurance workloads. These high end storage options include faster read and write speeds and can handle more IOPS (input/output operations per second). They also have a longer lifespan and are less likely to fail.
- Superior Rack and Tower Cases Our server case selections are chosen with you, the customer, in mind. Single EPYC and Xeon systems come the Chenbro 4U rack case. With plenty of bays, ease of cooling, and compact enough for standard audio, video, and homelab racks, makes this silent server case the obvious choice. We default our Dual CPU Servers with a Rosewill 4U 25" DEEP case for a seriously powerful silent server.

How Loud Are Typical Servers?
A typical server can be quite loud, generating up to 80 decibels of noise. This is equivalent to the noise level of a busy street or a vacuum cleaner. For comparison, a normal conversation is about 60 decibels. Our Quiet Servers are a totally silent 20-30 decibels! You can even run them right on your desk with our the need for a noisy server room.
We also include options for the quietest redundant power supply available. At only 40 decibels, this server option is only about as noisy as your standard refrigerator. This makes it an acceptable quiet server choice for across the room or studio.
Types and Function of Servers
Servers can be utilized for a myriad of uses. So, it would be impossible to list them all. Our servers are unique because they can be located near or even right next to the user while maintaining a quiet work environment. Some common server functions include:
- Virtualization (Virtual Machine Host)
A virtual host acts as a hypervisor that manages your virtual machines. There are a lot of different hypervisors we support such as Proxmox, VMWare, KVM and HyperV. Virtual machine hosting is a great way to speed up development and test multiple operating systems all on the same machine in a secure and custom environment.
- Storage Servers
NAS (network attached storage) or file servers can store all your data securely on premises. In the home these are often paired with a Media Server
- Dedicated Server
Own your own bare metal! When you don't trust the cloud and want a server that no one else has access to. Host your own Web Server, Database Server, Exchange Server or whatever else you require.
- Media Servers
Stream all your content to all your devices. Use software such as Plex, Emby, Jellyfin or Roon and many others to serve your videos, music and pictures to all of your devices.
- Network appliances
These include Routers, Firewalls, DNS caching servers and DNS filters, VPN and other dedicated network appliances. These will often take advantage of multiple ethernet ports.
- GPU Servers
Typically used for large language models (A.I.) or Crypto.
- NVR (Network Video Recorder)
A server used for video recording typically for security systems.

Server Resources
What do I need a specialized network card for?
All servers will come with a basic ethernet interface but you may need an advanced network card when you need a higher speed connection. You can get speeds from 10 Gigabit up to 200 Gigabit and sub-millisecond latency. You can also support networking over fiber optics. On some cards you also have the benefit of an integrated processing for various network technologies such as RDMA and stateless offloading, reducing network lag. Keep in mind that you will need the cabling, switches and hardware that match the speeds you are attempting to achieve.
Do PCIe M.2 NVMe drives make sense in a server?
Yes! Usually, we will assign one of the M.2 PCIe NVMe drives to the operating system so that the operating system runs faster. Depending on the purpose of the server you might have another NVMe drive to run other I/O intensive processes like running a database or processing large files.
You also may be using a server for managing large files for use with video editing software such as Davinci Resolve. It matters how fast the disks can access the files locally and how fast your network is so that you can stream 4K directly from the server to your editing workstation. Our PCs are perfect for these applications where the server is near or even right next to the user.
Why a Physical Server instead of the cloud?
There might be a lot of reasons why you might want a physical server over hosting data over the cloud. The top three reasons however are privacy, faster connection, and more control. Check out our types and functions of servers for more specific uses of physical servers.
